    Default St Croix Avid Panfish

    Anybody try one yet ?
I’ve been eyeballing them ever since they came out .
I would have liked to have seen a 5’6” two piece offered or a least the six footer in a two piece .
Since losing my truck , I’m driving a RAV4 and anything over 5’4” or so fits better if it breaks down .
I pulled the trigger on the six foot one piece . It’ll have to fit in the gap between the split rear seat . I can carry one that way, maybe two .
With its longer handle than what I like , (13” long total on the six footer) , the rod should fish like a five footer .
Should be super sensitive for light jigging .
I’ve aggravated my rotator cuff in the casting arm with the bug wand , trying to bass fish with woolyboogers and I’m going to need to go back to spinning tackle for awhile .
I should have stayed with the gills and size 14 spiders and little roll casts .

I like the current SC Panfish series and the Trout series except the for the shape of the grip area of the handle .
I hope the Avid is an improvement.

    You’re correct Bob .
I remembered I shot my long bow about a week and half ago that most likely contributed to the rotator cuff pain .
    It’s already feeling better .
The new rod should be here tomorrow according to the tracking info .
Looking forward to taking it out and putting it to the test .

Happy to report my new 6’ Avid Panfish rod arrived safely today .
You never know how it’ll get treated in transit.
First impressions, rod feels light in hand , paired with a Daiwa LT1000S it balances just in front of the reel .
Reel is spooled with 2# P-line CXX Crystal Clear , I just picked up .
Wiggle test puts a smile on my face , so that’s good .
I tied on a black 1/64 jighead to match up with a Bobby Garland Itty Bitty SwimR .
Going to try to get to the town pond tomorrow to get it properly slimed . If there’s any water left in the pond .
I was hoping we’d get some from Ian , but it curved .

I put a 5’6” Daiwa Procyon next to it , lining up where the blank comes out of the handle and the tip of the SC Avid Panfish is about three inches longer . So , it’ll probably fish like a 5’9” rod I’m thinking .
The longer than usual handle didn’t seem too long . We’ll see when we get into actual fishing.
    Report to follow.
