I think this is #6 for the Freshwater Drum and both from this stretch of creek have been good size. When this particular one hit, my net was about 50 yards downstream, and after catching a glimpse of him, I decided to work him down that way which worked out good. The larger ones can be a real handful and a lot of fun on ultra light gear. Also caught four Smallies. Right before leaving I hit a good one that shot out of the water like a cruise missile four foot from the surface and must have traveled downstream through the air at least ten foot while sending my bait back in the process.

Never seen or heard of a Drum until joining CDC. Are they good eating? Thanks for posting, moonrunner!

Smallies are beyond the pale fun and are magicians at a water launch and return of your lure. They sure get the heart pumping! Good outing for you!
