I recently discovered the Diawa Presso series of rods.
My favorite shore, longer distance casting rod is the 8ft 2pc. Ultra Light, rated 1/32-1/4 oz with line 2-6 lbs.
It is very light weight and balances well with a Diawa Fuego LT 2500 reel. The lighter 1000/2000 reels make the rod feel tip heavy.
Construction is very similar to the JDM rods with unsanded blank and similar reel seat, it does not have the extremely small guides seen on the typical JDM rods.
The rod is medium flex profile and has plenty of blank stiffness to cast weighted bobbers. I believe this is more efficient than the fast action, tip flex blanks for casting heavier weights.
Retail price is $62.00 which is amazing for this quality and construction.
I also have the Shimano Soare S76UL-T which is JDM and is a nice 7'6" rod for longer distance shore casting. This rod has a tubular tip, not solid which is S76UL-S with the typical very very flexible tip. The T model is more medium action with stiffer tip and will easily cast weighted bobbers or heavier lures comfortably.
