    Default Customs Clearance?

For those that have ordered from Japan, has anyone had a problem with customs? I placed an order, and it was sent out on April 27th. The package arrived and presented to customs at O'Hare/Chicago on the 30th, since then there has been no further movement. Contacted the company was told there is not much they can do. How long should I wait to notify PayPal of undelivered item?

    Thanks in advance.
If you cast it they will come.

I've never had an issue on gear from Japan, but most of my packages go thru NY. I have heard many times that Chicago customs is the worst for package issues. I once had a box of cigars (from an island south of Miami) from overseas seized - yep, it was in Chicago.

Never heard of one going through Chicago. I don't believe they even do that. Normally its Jamaica NY or something like that.

When I order from Plat it goes through O'Hare. I bought another reel after the April 30th and it went through customs without a problem. This is the 1st time out ~10 orders.
If you cast it they will come.

Yes, they are saying their hands are tied and just have to wait.

Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.

The longest wait time I’ve had on JDM gear was when I bought a rod here in the States.

The seller was by no means at fault. USPS was severely behind during the holiday season. The fishing rod sat in a sorting facility for 3 weeks.

Rec'd today my order for spare spinning spools from PLAT.
Nagasaki, Japan to CT in 7 days.
Ordered May 13,,, arrived May 20
PLAT rec'd spare spools from Shimano on May 16 and shipped out May 17,,, next day.
Arrived NYC on May 19 and delivered to CT on May 20.

Mail delivery truck had me sign off on pkg since it was EMS Air Mail.
She said most are very fast through US Customs however, the worst location is New York City, some pkg take months to clear customs.

    Regards,
    FK

My normal turnaround is ~4 days. I ordered a pair of shoes, shipped from North Carolina and took 10 days to get to IL (unbelievable).
If you cast it they will come.
