Default New Reel “out for delivery”

I’ve become a Daiwa reel fan , especially the shallow spool versions out of Japan .
I ordered my new reel from a popular dealer in Japan .
    It’s a Daiwa LEGALIS 18 LEGALIS LT 2000S .
I went with the shallow spool 2000 size for the bigger diameter spool .
The 2000 is only 5g heavier than the 1000s , which I already have .
I’ll most likely be spooling it with 2# Mist Green P-line .
Trying to squeeze every bit of distance into my casts .
And using it to chase my favorite fish , bluegills or whatever decides to eat one of my hand ties or a Bobby Garland itty bit Swimmer .

Amazing how fast stuff gets here from Japan.

Reel was on the front porch when my wife and I got home .
Going to spool it up and take it to the town pond later today.
The reel is smaller than I expected . I’m guessing it’s the same body as the 1000 , with a slightly larger rotor and spool .

I got the reel all setup and ready to take to the pond , but the wind right now is 15mph , with higher gusts .
I hope it dies down some before this evening.

Wind drove me off after about 3 hours trout fishing. Trying to fish a 1.2 gram spoon in a cross wind at 20 MPH just didn’t cut it.

    Regards

I just checked the forecast for tomorrow, thinking that might be a better option and , NOPE ! 20+mph tomorrow.
I better go this evening and try to hide behind the bridge .

Congrats on the new reel, gill. Sounds like it should be a great addition to the stable.

Fished the new reel for a little over a half an hour before I gave up and headed home .
A combination of park visitors feeding the turtles and fish in the best spot to try to avoid the wind and the gusty wind ran me home early .
I did manage one small gill .
The reel fished awesome. Smooth winding , a smooth drag , and cast the same rig I’ve been using with less effort than before . A 1/16 drop shot weight below a spider fly . Just a flick and even with the wind I was casting 70-80 feet with ease .
The larger spool with the thin 2# P-line just flies off the spool .
