    Default Spring Break Slam

I am on Spring Break this week and and while a short hiatus from work is always appreciated the forecasted weather did not get the memo. A big line of storms was to push through around lunch, affected the whole country seems like this front did so I decided the boat would have to stay safely under the carport. No worries the Bass are in the creeks as they always are this time of year and Cherokee Lake has plenty of three species to seek out. A Bison colored Trout Magnet is hard to beat l, if you don’t believe me tune into The Trout Magnet Man’s UL videos on You Tube, he has been known to catch a few on this simple but effective bait. Strung up with the Varivas 5.6lb Infinity PE, the 7.6 ABU got the call to duty. With a little more time I ventured several miles up the lake from my normal home place and found an awesome creek with a good flow and a deep channel. With the cloud covering increasing and the pressure dropping it did not take long to get my first bass, a fun size Largemouth couldn’t resist

Hard pulling in the current, a quick pic and he went back in safely. Next up was his close cousin, Mr. Kentucky Bass thought he done found him a bug for breakfast, but a sore lip and a pic was all he got for his efforts.

Well you know the first thing that came into my mind upon his release….think I can get the Slam. Why not, we are up the lake near the main river in a creek that just looks fishy! Well the wind was howling and I knew the rain was close so it needed to happen soon. Well it did, hard thump and we were aboard the Brown Freight Train for sure. Three good leaps and a brush with the sharp rocks had me a little worried it was only going to be a fish story.

Nope, East Tennessee Small Jaws at his finest. Slam complete in the same trip at the same creek. Shoot Fire this UL thing is so much fun. It started sprinkling so I went in search of some lunch and scouted out another couple spots from inside the dry truck. With a full belly and a good idea of what species was next on my Spring Break bank list….to be continued hopefully. Get out and fish if you can, they are biting.

Congratulations. If only I had spent my spring breaks like this.

Congrats on a real nice outing and slam! All three looked real healthy and full of vinegar! I’m sad to report a skunk yesterday at my creek, but on the upside did some walking and scouted out some real nice bank fishing spots. I got to try my new Legalis and a real nice performing reel. I wish I could have had your success, but the water is getting warmer and it is just a matter of time.
