I am glad to hear that you’re ok. That’s the most important part!

I, too, have been there. I snapped the top section of the 6’7” Eradicator in 2020 after about 6 weeks of use. It was sad day indeed. I just stood there dumbfounded after it happened. 3 Piece Iprimi

I am hard, very hard on rods. Tore up my Tict Rockin' Power once: while launching boat, a stray trailer strap hooked it, snatched it out of the boat, and I dragged it across 50 yards of rough asphalt going to park. Scratched it up terrible, yanked out the stripper guide, damaged the Luvias reel, but it didn't break the rod. Some superglue to put the guide back in the wrap slot, a reel change, and it was back in action. A freak accident. Had to order a new bail and some other parts for the Luvias reel.

I bought a JDM hard case, but I admit I rarely use it, and carry my rods to and from the house full length and strung up. Rods are the first thing I put in the truck, and last thing I take out. They ride in the cab, not in the bed.
I’m easy on my equipment and try to be careful, but I have to admit I do the above sometimes with my cheaper rods - never my JDM. I cut corners because I want to hike in and get to the stream faster. Also, it is easier to rig the rod at home - fumble fingers.

Thanks everyone, it was a disappointing day to be sure, but I learned a valuable lesson. When I got up this morning, I was moving around like an old man!!! A few scrapes and bruises but everything still works.

Randy, I had seen your admonishments about rod cases, but assumed the path to my spot was pretty easy. Have to admit, I recalled your words as I was looking at my new 3 piece rod!!! I’ll update when the new tip gets here.
