I was wondering what rod you use with your Zebco Omega Pro Z2’s.I like to use
my Z2 for cold weather fishing when I have to wear gloves. Thanks for any info.
I don’t use em and taught the grandkids with spinning. Sorry I’m no help. I do want to share a story similar to Jacks. Camryn wasn’t 10 and we were fishing near a bridge with rip rap but off of the rocks. 1/32 with a panfish assassin body so you know the size and a 5’ four pound test setup and she says fish. The drag starts screaming, then she starts screaming, then the 10 folks on a dock 30’ away start cheering. She has no control at all, then I see why. She’s hooked into about 5 lbs of LMB who is now running back and forth through a good sized branch so I knew the eventual outcome. He ran back and forth about 4 times before the line was too tangled and audibly snapped. She was crushed and the spectators began clapping. All total less than ten seconds. She talks about this still almost ten years later. Love moments like those, I can still see it all in my mind. Thanks for letting me go off track.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I have several ultralight casting rods I swap back and forth with BFS and baitcasting reels loaded with six pound line .
A couple are custom rods built on ultralight spinning blanks . One is a five footer I just got off Amazon for around $30 . It seems to be a nice rod , took about three or four weeks from China . I have a couple of Daiwa fiberglass UL rods I use too .
I began my fishing with a Zebco 33 . I used these spooled with six pound line for bass fishing , but have always had some kind of UL spinning outfit .
I used the 33’s for several years . We’d trick them out , slicking up the drags on them .

I have an Omega on a 6 ft old Gander Mountain crappie rod. It actually casts quite well and drag ain't bad
I break out the Zebco 33 now and again if for no other reason than nostalgia. And it's so easy to use too. Was messing with a Zebco trigger/under spin the other day. Going to give it to a neighbor kid.

Grew up with a Zebco 33 & didn't learn spinners till much later. Truth be told, I only bought a couple nice spinning rigs (just got back into fishing earlier this year after a 35+ year hiatus) because I kinda felt like a spincaster wasn't "serious" enough. I like the underspins a bunch & woulda gotten a Gold version underspin if they made it in a size 30.
I did however, buy myself a Zebco Omega Z02 combo for pond use & love it, but wish I could find a good Light power casting rod for it. The 5'6 ML "Omega Graphite" is nice, but struggles to cast < 1/16oz well with 6lb mono. Wife only knows spincasters with no interest in learning anything else, so I got her a 33 Micro combo that she likes a bunch. Would like to get her something a little bigger for lake use though & save the little UL rig for our pond. Similarly, I'd like to leave my little Omega at the pond & get the Z03 size, strung with 8-10lb mono for lake use, specifically for live bait & trolling.
Whatever happened to pistol grip casting rods- nobody like 'em anymore? 'N why almost no Light power casting rods?
