Default XUL Rod Makes for a Lot of Fun!

It's been awhile since I have gone fishing. I was checking out the TVA app just to see how water flows looked like in the tailraces I fish. I saw that Normandy was only 61 CFS. I thought that had to be a mistake with all the rain we have had. But I loaded up the Major Craft Fine Tail Banshee 5' 9" XUL and headed that way in pouring rain. Lo and behold it was at 61 CFS! That usually means one thing....you're going to catch a ton of fish. When I got back home I downloaded 122 clips of trout catching fun. Out of the 122 trout most were at the 7 inch mark...had about 3 dozen at the 11 inch mark. This is the beauty of using an XUL area trout rod...you gonna have a ton of fun on small fish. Used a Daiwa Ballistic FW 1000 reel spooled up with 3# test Varivas Twitch Master VLS nylon line. I chose that line as it casts great and if I did hook into any brood trout I could get them in no problems. The lure today was a 1.2 gram Presso Eve spoon.....most of the time I was using the Yellow Dagger color. It made my day....long periods of a trout on every cast. Sometime I was casting barbless hooks and other times micro barbed hooks. Had a funny incident there....I made about 7 casts getting a hit each time....but no hook ups. I thought they must be striking short. I decided to take a look at the lure after a cast and noticed my hook was broke about halfway down the shaft. All I could do was laugh.

I might be sitting in higher temps but I’m envious of you and the dams relationship. I’ve fished there a few times and always had a good time. That’s a great place when the flow allows us to get more than we should be allowed. Congrats on another good trip.
