    Default Latest acquisition.

Received my Fine Tail FSX-462 UL stream trout rod. The rod weighs 64 grams....8 guides...Fuji stainless frames with Fuji Sic-s inserts. Wooden reel seat...wooden trim rings....beautiful rod. Action is fast...and I do mean fast...of course it is a Major Craft which is known for fast actions. While I bought this rod to fish on the river casting micro spoons of 1-2 grams, it occurred to me this rod can do double duty and will work out if I want to switch to a Trout Magnet. This is a thin rod...6mm at the butt...but I am sure it can handle up to 20 inch trout with no problems. Have no idea when I will get to check this rod out. All my trout spots are blowed out. For those looking for a trout stream rod I highly recommend the Fine Tail FSX series. It's no Rayz Spectra but then again it is 300 bucks less than the TenRyu.

    Regards

Wellyou would get a faster than light hook set with this rod.LOL. I think it would work out OK. I have to keep in mind that as best I can tell from the translations these rods are designed to impart your will to the lure you are using and make supper accurate casts. I think it would handle bass just fine.

    Regards

Thanks Bob. This is always bad time of year for me. Either the weather or too much water from flooding keeps me from fishing.

Just wondering since it seems like many of the stream trout rods would make great bass finesse rods. I love to catch trout, but I have a lot more bass near me.

I think youre right. I will test the two FSX rods out in a finesse situation and report back. I was thinking this rod would work great on a visit to the French Broad with all the smallmouth in there with the trout.

I know it's gonna take some times before you can give us more feedback on the Fine Tail, Randy and it is a beautiful rod. I hate to bring back more gear discussions but now that you mentioned at one point you slowly getting into "shorter" rod I'd thought I bring this up and see if anyone ever heard of this brand, Xesta black star series of rod from oversea. I too love to get next UL rod under 5 feet, but rather stay away from the likes of Area or stream trout rod for now for its intended use is for multispecy.
