A lot worse way to spend the afternoon than catching fish.
Hit the back yard pond this evening for about 50 minutes and pulled in 17. Most were crappie, but a few decent gills showed up too. The hot weather did seem to slow them down.

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Pond is looking pretty nice. That's a good number of fish for a hour.
Yes, real nice looking water, FFW. Action like that is just what you need to finish off a day!

IF that's your backyard, congratulations! Had one like that for myself in weekend place for a few years and it is glorious to instead of wasting your life watching boob tube to just grab your rod and step out of your house and wet a line. Doesn't matter what size they are!
Thats a good afternoon distraction. I’ve tried to get a couple of hours in the afternoon for about a week or more but our daily rains have begun and they’re relentless. Glad you got a few and a smile for a while.

I consider myself lucky to live in such a location. The pond serves up bluegill, shell cracker, crappie and bass. Can't ask for much more than that!
Just realized that I posted this in the Ultralight section. Should have been in the main Panfish section. So, I'll cover my set up: Diawa Presso (custom 6'4") rod, Piscifun Carbon X 1000 reel with shallow spool, and 6# Diawa J-Braid X4 with a SOS 4# leader. The terminal tackle was a 1/32 oz Eurotackle tungsten jig head with a Charlie Brewer 1.5" Crappie/Panfish Grub (looks like a mini-swimbait to me). Just swam it slowly at different depths to get the bites.
