Default Iprimi XXUL is a ton of fun.

They dropped the flow at Normandy today to 130 CFS...that is prime Trout Magnet conditions. In 3.5 hours I twitched up 76 trout using a Bison colored Trout Magnet. Most of the trout were at the 11-12 inch mark....which made for a whole lot of fun. Rods used were the Abu Garcia Diplomat Extreme 6' 2" UL Area Trout rod spooled up with the Varivas 2.3# test polyester line.....and.....while I was having a ton of fun with that rod I pulled out the Daiwa Iprimi 5' 6" XXUL Area Trout rod. Landing 11-2 inch trout on an XXUL rod takes fun to a whole new level. I was able to catch quite a few trout on the Iprimi using the Daiwa Presso Eve 1.2 gram Yellow Dagger spoon. It was not all good news today. My GoPro bit the dust.....oh well such is life. Life is good!

Congrats on a great trip, Randy. Sorry to hear about the GoPro. At least your story isn’t as sad as my one when I fell in the stream and wiped out my phone last year!

Thanks Bob. All these action cameras will give you problems...but today it just crapped out. Goes into a rapid photo sequence and you have to turn it off to stop it. Made me think twice if I wanted to keep my channel going...but in the end I have a new Hero 9 black on the way. Would have rather spent that money on another JDM rod...LOL.

Hate to hear that about the camera and I do hope you keep the channel going. I bet the Iprimi/spoon fish were a blast, hope to see that rod in action more this year.

No problem controlling them in the current?

Not really. It performed much better than I thought. I did have one very large brood trout on for about 30 seconds and the hook pulled out.....I seem to lose a few trout with the barbless hooks. I think I could have landed it no problem. Going back tomorrow...the flow will be even less than today. It will be ideal conditions for a Trout Magnet....but I have to tell you fishing for trout using this rod and the Presso Eve spoons are a hoot. Going to make for a great 4 months until the trout die off in July.

It was a hoot Stan. Was worried that the rod just would not meet my standards due to the lack of sensitivity. But I must admit using the ester line with the spoons it is not an issue. I will eventually test out the rod on trout using a TM. Not sure how that will work out. The rod sure is a keeper though. Hated to spend the money for a new camera but I did want to keep the channel going. All these cameras can give you issues.....especially in the summer.

It just gets better....had another 74 today with this 17 inch bad boy. Caught it on the Diplomat Extreme. Was catching on the Iprimi also but after losing 3 Presso Eve spoons to the bottom I put it down...LOL.
