Does anyone here have the Gekkabijin MX LT 1000S-P? I like the 1000 size reels and this looks like a pretty nice reel for $162. It's listed as 7/1 bearings.

I have the 2000 series in the reel you are asking about. I too prefer the 1000 size for UL fishing, cast and retrieve, but I wanted a reel with a little faster gear ratio for two main applications, float fishing and vertical jigging. I was looking for a little bit bigger spool capacity also. While float fishing, casting to a target and keeping the bait in the zone is important, but when your cast/presentation is over the higher gear ratio will get you back in and back out quicker. I know this sounds trivial, but I Bass fished plastics for years and when you can make more casts and more presentations then you are increasing your odds at getting the bait in front of a fish. 7.1 ratio bait casting reels were where I left off, but man were they fast to me. As far as the reel, here are the specs on mine, I am sure the 1000 series is lighter. I like the color, partial to red/black/silver.

Caught this old Bully Sunday afternoon on the reel, drag performed flawlessly.

I bought one recently but have not used it yet. Been fishing only a couple times and I used my other JDM reels. I wanted a reel with mag seal and digi tough gears at a lower price point.

There is a bearing kit available on Ebay for this reel if you are so inclined.

I was comparing the 18 Gekkabijin MX LT1000S-P to the 19 Ballistic FW LT 1000S-P last night and they are fairly similar reels. Here are the differences that I found.
-Price, the Ballistic costs about $100 more
-Weight, the Ballistic is 30 grams lighter
-Construction, the Ballistic is not mag sealed like the Gekkabijin is

Other than that, there may be some slight differences, but I can not tell.

It sounds like a good 1000 series mag sealed reel. I am debating the these two to be paired with a SUL, so I will likely go with the Ballistic.

Interesting that the 1000 and 2000 weigh the same, in the MX as shown above.

Guys does anyone know the difference between the US and JDM Daiwa Legalis? Same question for the Daiwa Revros. I am also looking at the Daiwa Regal which seems to be an only US reel with 10 bearings but a great price for a Daiwa with 10 bearings. From my research I believe the biggest difference between thE JDM and US models is the shallow spool. I have actually bought the US Revros 2000 series with a shallow spool. I am shopping for a 2500 or 3000 series reel. Thanks in advance.

I have 4 Regals and they are great, and can't be beat in an approx $50 reel. I wish they had the shallow spool, but some cheap 6 lb mono as backing takes care of that.
