Curious as to why you want to get a 20 Luvias in the states at an 80 dollar premium over one out of Japan. I understand you are looking at the 1000D model which is available only outside of Japan. I can’t tell you the size difference....no reviews out that I have seen on the 1000D. The Vanquish is a great reel....and is much different than the 20 Luvias. It has a lower inertia for cranking......weighs 10 grams less than comparable 20 Luvias model...has 3 more bearings and costs about $150 more than a 20 Luvias. Both are good reels but the two can’t be compared apples to apples. The Vanquish is a better reel....as the price would indicate. You won’t go wrong with either one.

Looks like the Japanese luvias is out of stock everywhere. If it came back in stock I would definitely consider it.

Ueshima has the fast retrieve (6.2) version of the Luvias 2000 available for order:

Daiwa 2020 LUVIAS FC LT 2000S-XH Spinning

Some JDM vendors might have the slow retrieve version later this month.

Upgrade kit for my 20 Luvias 2000s will be here tomorrow. I've cranked in a few crappie with it, and a couple spotted bass so far. It'sa very niiiiiiiiice.

It is nice. I have not fished with mine yet but the more I exercise it.......which is a fancy term for just playing around....LOL.....I become more impressed with it.

I received my tuning kit as well for the 20 Luvias and 18 Legalis. A bit nervous because it’s my first time upgrading a reel. Will do it tomorrow when I have more time. On a side note, I’m really interested in purchasing a low ratio reel to match my MC Finetail area FAX-632UL but the Ballistic FW series is out of my budget range at the moment. Would like to keep it under 200 bucks. Digitaka has the 18 Caldia LT 1000S-P listed for around $172. Tempting...

Believe me I understand about a budget....we all have one. Just thought I would let you know the Ebay seller has the FW at $218. As to the bearings in the 20 Luvias...and I am pretty sure in the 2018 Legails as well....there is a tiny spring clip under the drag washer. It is easy to see...it is also easy to pop away from you and is hard to find on the floor. If you get it out without losing it...it is all straight forward. I have 3 of my FW reels and the 20 Luvias yet to be done. I am waiting on 4 spring clips to arrive from Japan...they are on backorder.....so just in case I do let one..or more get away from me again....I will have a ready replacement....LOL.

FW for a couple bucks cheaper. By the way, I did a bearing kit last night. Placed spool in plastic bag and removed clip while it was in bag. No lost clip!

I've been waiting for an eBay coupon to pop up, but no such luck in the last few weeks. Soon.
