I’m going to probably order a new 35 or 40 millimeter handle for the new Luvias. I really like the shorter handles on the Presso and Ballistic.

Thanks for the kind words. No doubt in my mind the JDM tackle makes me a better fisherman.

A side note about the Daiwa Ballistic FW 1000S-P reel. Between me and my nephew...the folks on here who purchased one........the seller has sold a total of 7 of these reels. We paid $216 for the reel. I just checked his listing and he has raised the price to $322! Of course at that price it is no longer a bargain....as a matter of fact that price will get one several reels far better. Not sure how many he will sell at that price.

I'm thinking about purchasing one of the JDM reels mentioned here. Been a Shimano fan (own a couple Pfluegers too) but the last couple yrs have been intrigued by Daiwa's LT line up and now learned the JDM Daiwa's spin reels have shallower spools (a big plus).

Probably won't buy until around May but thinking a Freams 1000 LT with add on bearings. Is the Freams 18 model decent or go for the Freams 19 model? Are spare spools available for the Freams 1000?

If I can find a Ballistic 1000 FW like Randy's for under $225 then I'll go that route but the cheapest price I found so far is $248. Guess I'll wait until closer to May to see how the market prices play out.

You have rekindled my love for UL. You have also decreased my net worth.

It might be a market/supplier driven price increase. I purchased mine from Tackle Warehouse for $216 with free shipping about the same time you purchased yours. Today they show it for $279.97 as a closeout.

The Tackle Warehouse Ballistic is not the same reel as the Ballistic FW out of Japan.
