I have looked at the Shimano Soare SS Ajing and personally think it looks awesome... but I am trying not to overlap any of my rods and I think I am up to 12 JDM rods now lol... well, I will be when the 2 I bought yesterday come in... got a triple cross and a n-one ajing rod... going to decide between the 2 for a rod to use with floats... couldn’t resist the 30% major craft sale that Digitaka had...

The SS is a better rod than the BB. I know nothing about the Salty Shape. I have been studying Tailwalk Ajist and TZ rods for 8 years......just never pulled the trigger on one. Just go on and get the top of the line Shimano Soare Limited.....it comes in at only a little over 800 bucks.....LOL.

I have the 7.6 Shimano Soare BB, caught my first fish on it November 4, 2018. Started me down this expensive but fun JDM road.Name: IMG_2782.jpg

It has a very soft tip, kinda of whispy but no buggy whip. Has a good backbone about half way down. Have caught many fish on it, most species that frequent my waters, and I never had any qualms about it handling what bit. It is not “steely”, a word I see here on this board describing the higher end and higher graphite content rods. It is the PERFECT rod for the little lake behind my daughters house that is chock full of Panfish and Bass, all of which are always hungry and seem somewhat stunted. I have never caught a fish over 12 inches in that lake but have a ton of fun with this rod with light line and almost any buggy looking bait. If you tie into any of those bruiser Ears I see pictures of from out your way, hold on, it will be a fun ride with this rod for sure.

That's crazy, but I do wonder what could make it so special that it's $800?!! I'll take a hard pass, I would feel pretty guilty if I spent $800 on a panfish rod.

I hear ya. I could not go for that one either. Like you I do wonder what is it about that rod that commands that price. It is the same with the Super Corto AT that sells for a grand. I have found when you get to the 300 dollar range of rods you can start splitting hairs when comparing sensitivity.

The Shimano Soare BB S706ULS is a mebaru rod (which I actually like better than the Soare BB ajing rods). Perfect action for panfish and a very nice rod for the price.

Yes, Chris has these available at his site. A nice person to do business with.

Personally hooked on Diawa, but I suspect that may be another Ford Chevy debate kind of thing in the high end JDM stuff.
I liked the specs too so I have a new Shimano Ci4+ Cardiff, the slow retrieve model (there are 2 versions in 1000 size). Loaded it with Varivas Hi Vis 3lb nylon. Fished it only once so far but it's a sweet reel. The drag and shallow spool are very nice, very audible drag clicker.

Ordered mine from Digitaka.com, and Hedgehog has spare spools too.

I could not tell the difference between the Cardiff Ci4+ in small sizes and the Soare Ci4+ based on specs, only found the Soare to be lighter. I now have Soare Ci4+ C2000SSPG and I like it very much. Cardiff has peaked my interest due to the "X-Protect", but it is only available in the C3000 size. So far, the Soare has been everything I had hoped it to be with the "rigid support drag" being the main draw since I intend to use it with <2.5 lbs lines.

I have just acquired Soare SS Ajing S610SUL-S and have fished it briefly. I absolutely love it, but I do not have any other JDM ultralights to compare to. I could compare it to some USDM ultralights I had had experience with, but it would be a moot point.
