I wouldn't get the same exact rod. You will find ajing rods from another manufacturer will be a lot different. A Tict Ice Cube is a great rod. But be warned....once you step up you will not want to go back down....LOL. When you get into the high end it is a whole new ball game.

I gave my dad the triplecross for his birthday and he seemed really happy with it... I love my tict ice cube rockin finesse for crappie and gills... I really like my 6’1” corto for stream fishing and still haven’t tried the 6’10” corto...

Hope to get the Corto out tomorrow for some Gills. Taking the Crappie stuff too, they should be transitioning now, depends on water temps. When he feels the sensitivity of the Triple Cross on a Bluegill bite and fight there will be no going back for him.

Question, what size jighead should I be buying? I'm looking into the 1g and .05g Gekkabijin jigheads for my Triple Cross 732aji rod. It's rated for a .06g-1g....

If I bought stateside, are we talking a 1/24oz on the heavy side?? What size should I typically use when targeting nesting bluegill and redear?

I need all of the guidance I can get because I'm new to this JDM game. I find myself searching and reading for two hours at a time just trying to learn and absorb the various rod models of Japanese ultralight fishing!!!

That rod is rated for up to 10 gram I think. Thats right at 1/3. Thats a high rating. I have jig heads from .5 through 3 grams in 1/2 gram increments. So youre talking 1/4 on the heavy side.....at least that is the highest I would cast....and wouldnt use that size very much.

.5 gram is equal to 1/64......1 gram is close to 1/32......2 grams is close to 1/14. Use google and use the gram to ounces chart and plug in your numbers and see what the ounce equivalent is and you'll be familiar with the gram weights in no time.

My Ice Cube Rockin' Power was delivered today, and was shipped on the 23rd, so I'd say that is pretty fast shipping. Beautiful rod; going to put my Luvias 1003 on it for now. I ordered a Luvias 2004 for it, but did not get that order in before the Japanese spring holidays, so it won't ship until May 9, but I did get a 1500Y coupon from Digitaka to make up for it. I also got two spools of Varivas 0.5 Super Ester line to try out.

I will be going to the bait store for some red wigglers and hitting a lake that has some huge redears, or shellcrackers, in the morning. Also took a page from Randy and got a bag of Bison, Rootbeer float, and Sowbug color Trout Magnets to try out on my Daiwa JDM jig heads. Hopefully I will have some success, and take some pics for y'all.

I took some of the Daiwa Gekkabijin jigs and added a mono weed guard, Richard Gene style (he has a video on how he makes them) after breaking a few off dock shooting last week. I won't be dock shooting with the Ice Cube, no. I have a Denali 6' dock rod for that that is my favorite dock shooter so far.

Got the 18 Corto out today, full fishing report on TN board but my thoughts on just the rod here. Light as a feather this thing is , literally. I was slinging the 7.6 MajorCraft X-Ride all morning with a 1/32 lite wire jig head and Bobby Garland Baby Shad, so the Trout Magnet on the 6.10 Corto felt twice as light. I stuck a couple Gills, the bite was a nice sharp tick felt through the rod blank, and the fight was a very rigid battle, the rod did not get into a major bend on the small cricket crunchers.

I searched many pre spawn areas but no luck on the Size-able Sunnies. On one secondary shallow point I did tie into some nice Crappie on the Corto, and it definitely got the bend test. A big girl was first, what a way to baptize the rod.

The rod, drag and line brought her the net and I was so shocked to have stumbled upon a Crappie I did not pay attention to the rod bend. Three more were present in this little area and I focused more on the rod and the feel of the Crappie fight. Definitely a difference, the Corto held the lunging Crappie, but the strong little tail bursts of the Gills are felt better through the rigid rod. I will definitely keep the TM on the 1/48oz jig on this rod, the 7.3 Triple Cross may get the back up Bluegill spot. I need more seat time on the Corto, and did have a 16in Smallmouth crush the TM, make a Tarpon-like tail walk and return the jig back to the sender. All on me, not the rod. So far, money well spent, I am happy with my new weapons and now plan to spend more time getting used to the lines and drag settings to maximize the fun factor these rods bring.

Went to my favorite shellcracker hole to try out the new Ice Cube Rockin' Power this morning. Stopped and bought some red wigglers. First good fish on the Ice Cube:

    Caught one slab crappie:

Also tried the trout magnet on 1g Daiwa jig, and caught several spotted and largemouth bass, biggest about 1.5 lb. What a blast!

My impression of the rod: beautiful workmanship, perfectly balanced, light and stiff, but bends easy on a fish, and bites felt hard and sharp. I did boat flip the little ones. It casts way farther than I thought it would - I put my bait in the trees a couple times getting used to it.

What was NOT a blast was my experience with the Varivas Ester line. It is coming off the Luvias as fast as I can strip it - not for me. The manageability was too much, it boiled off the spool like a clock spring at the end of every cast, and I had wind knots and tangles galore, causing me to cuss and re-tie many times. Going to stick with mono for now. I think the Rockin' Power can handle USA 2 lb test; putting Trilene on there now.

Going back in the morning for more shellcrackers! Love them.

Congrats on new rod and your catch. Ester is not for everyone.....I discussed those issues in a couple of videos......and my first spool of the stuff I wound up in same situation as you. Tict makes a fantastic rod. I need another Ajing rod like I need a hole in my head but I do not have an Tict Ajing rod....have 2 Ice Cubes but no Tict SRAM Rods......so between now and next spring I will have to get one. I have the new ester that Chris Stewart talked about on his site, Sunline Night Blue......in the 3.3# test is supposed to be much softer and not have the same memory problems as the Varivas ester. But not going to put it on until those KY bass show up in July.
