Guys, I have moved some of the "line" posts to a new sticky thread:

Seems it’s a bad night to find clear 2# test line...LOL....none I can find on Plat. That Daiwa rod will be very fast. I’ve owned Daiwa Ajing rods before. Good rod though. The 18 Corto will come back up.

Ok, so I stopped back by the creek culvert on Wednesday afternoon and took a Mebaru Rod with some Berkeley Crystal Super Line in 2lb test (found it on a sale table) and the Ajing Triple Cross rod with the 2lb Nanofil. Both of these lines float but fishing less than 6ft deep it really doesn’t factor in bait presentations. I tied directly to the 1/48oz jig ( no shock leader) with both lines and fished both interchangeably. The water color was still heavy stained. The first two fish on the Mebaru rod were Largemouth, one with shoulders and one smaller. The rod and line did great with the larger fish.

The next two fish on the Ajing rod were smaller, Crappie, but a 12in one gave me a fit for sure.

With the two super lines being about equal and tying directly to the jig, a bonus rod comparison was easily done. My thoughts, same as the resident guru here, Mebaru rod soft action tip but plenty of backbone to tame the average freshwater quarry of Temperate Bass and Panfish. Ajing rod, stiff tip but a little more sensitive to the fish species targeted above, maybe a bit better for the Bass and fun with the Bluegill. I plan on fishing the sinking JDM 3lb braid with the Fluorocarbon shock leader a little more, had it out for a brief spin only once this winter. Satisfied so far with my rod choices, the line and knot thing are still a work in progress.

Water clarity doesn’t look awful... I hated nanofil for the exact reason you stated (it floats)... I still do use 6lb fireline on my lure setup and I have for quite a while but it doesn’t make much of a difference if it floats when I am tossing 1/4 oz and 1/3 oz spoons... I am interested in the lines from Japan because they do not float and will probably be putting together a few orders today... keep up the good work on taming those fish... with you having no problems not using a shock leader do you think your knot was slipping? I have used that uni knot with the 6lb fireline and a leader of flouro for quite a while...
Congrats! Good write up and observations.....good looking fish too. The new Triple Cross is really a good looking rod. Just walked a gentleman through the process of buying the Triple Cross Ajing in the 5’ 8” model. I fished the Graphiteleader 17 Finezza Prototype yesterday catching a ton of 7-8 inch bluegill......got home and uploaded the video to iPad and no audio. So that video was a bust. Having owned 4 Mebaru rods the Finezza Prototype is most assuredly different. It is extremely fast....yet the tip is very soft. It is a very steely rod......feeling a soft pick up off the bottom to feeling a lightning strike in the hand when one hit it full force. Need to get more fish on it. I’m trying to figure out is it worth 70 bucks more than the Ice Cube Finesse. The build is absolutely perfect....has Torzite vs Sic-S on the Finesse so that drives up the price. I expected it to have the same action as my other Mebaru rods.....it does not. So making comparisons will be hard. I am amazed that all the rods I have bought all are in some way a little different than specie models from each manufacturer. Of course I am glad they are all different....would hate to have 2 the same.

Glad you got to try out your new fishing rod... I hate that you are still having problems out of the go pro... this rain is going to cause me to go broke because I keep wanting to buy more tackle... do you think that 5’8” would be stiff enough for stream trout and tossing spinners?

Randy has inspired me to buy at least two, maybe three JDM rods. I mainly fish on bottom for shellcracker and big bluegills. I need a rod that is sensitive enough to detect the sometimes delicate bite of the large shellcrackers. It's funny, those fish will sometimes nail a wiggler or often times just gently mouth it.
I'd prefer a 7ft rod under $200...although I'd probably spend closer to $250 in a pinch. I would pair these rods with the smallest President spinning reel on the market. Is 2lb line a must with these rods?? Thanks, Troy
Never exceed line ratings on JDM UL rods. You can get many JDM UL rods rated for up to 5-6 pound test. But many...especially the high end will be rated less than 4# test line with many being 2.5# test at the high end. The Triple Cross is a great rod....Stan has one and I think he is very happy with it. I think it is an excellent rod for the 140 bucks. Give me a chance to look around but to tell you they truth I’m not sure you can get a rod in the 200 dollar range that will be that much better than the Triple Cross at 140 dollars. If you could find an X Ride on sale...but it is a much heavier rod than the Triple Cross. I’ll look around for something in the 250 range also.
