When I first got to my spot on the bank, I was using the TC. I landed my first shellcracker using the TC. I immediately put it down and went to using my Finetail for the remainder of the day. The Finetail is just a crazy amount of fun. You kind of wonder if you're going to land these 11 and 12 inch crackers!! You absolutely can not muscle them in with this rod. It makes me a better angler because I have to allow the fish to play itself out. I have learned from experience and from Randy, that keeping the drag loose is a must.

The highlight of the day outside of the shellcrackers, was landing a 5lb LM bass on the Finetail!!! The bass leaped two feet out of the water three times during an epic battle. A cat fisherman near me wanted the bass and I obliged...normally I return them.

Just wanted to share my experiences with the board. This is money well spent on this JDM gear! I'm going to go again in the morning only this time, I'm going to attack them with the Shimano Soare BB. Can't wait, can't wait!

Big congrats. I’ve given away all high ratio 2000 reels to my sons....except for one. I will keep the Shimano Twin Power. They are getting some good reels....Daiwa Certate.....2012, 2015 model Luvias. It’s all low ratio for me if fishing plastics...which is 95 percent of my fishing.

I have experimented with lines on my Soare ajing rod and now suspect that the line test may reflect how the rod (or perhaps, guides) works with certain diameters, rather than breaking strengths. Case in point: when trying to use a long 4 lbs FC leader on my rod rated 1-3 lbs for nylon and FC, I experience difficulties with casting no matter how small the line-to-leader knot is (main line is 1.5 or 1.75 lbs ester). Drop it down to 2 lbs FC leader and there are no issues whatsoever. Interestingly, the rod is also rated for 0.1-0.4 PE, and a JDM 0.4 PE can have a breaking strength as high as 8-10 lbs. At the same time 0.4 PE has a diameter of 3 lbs FC... It also seems reasonable to assume that nobody would set their drag anywhere near the breaking strength of the line. I would welcome your opinions on this matter.

I use a short (4' max) leader with an Alberto knot only with the 3 lb braid. the knot doesn't go into the guides. I can tie the alberto on the boat without glasses, I've done it so much. For crappie, I often skip the leader - just be careful on the hook set if not using the JDM jigs - those don't really need a jerk, just start reeling. HTH YMMV

All you say is correct. This has been discussed before. I don’t have a clear answer. Now most of us will set a drag appropriately. I watch one Japanese angler who uses a Duel .2 PE that is rated at 5# test...but you can tell his drag is not set at even half of that.

Weird question. Is it the monster energy logo on the but of the tict rods?

Two thumbs up for the Tict SRAM 6'6" tubular tip as a dock shooter - my thumb and ultraslab's. It rocks! We shot docks today and had some success! Of course, he out-fished me as usual, but I don't care... he gave me his fish. Love it. Took home 18 fine slabs, his 14" 1.5+ lb the biggest.

No ME logo on my new Tict, no. I'll get a pic soon. Today I was too busy fighting a stiff breeze and dock-shooting for pictures.

The 7.4 Corto tubular tip will shoot too, but it just scares me to pull that line back for a shot. If I can pendulum cast the dock and get bit, I opt for that!
