    Default Jack?

    We always catch Jack on Pickwick in March and April trolling a crankbait.. I was wondering how you catch them this time of year.. We have trolled some in the last month and caught some good smallies but no Jack... Any help would be appriciated.. Thanks

    Wow, never heard of that before! We mainly only fish for them from about Oct. thru Feb. or March bumping jig and minnows in deeper water.

    I have caught several in the dead of summer while night fishing for smallmouth.

    Rub it in why don't ya!!! Nice stove pipe there, I wish I had a limit of those. I see what looks like a lowrance X96 or something similar in the background. I posted a while back about color or grey scale units and after you guys' replies and a little research I decided to go with the X510C color unit. Did you catch your crappie in open water? That's my logic behind buying a good depthfinder, I want to be able to find fish in open water instead of having to fight for a spot on the causeways.

    That is the 332 sitting on the work bench. You'll love that 510, thats what I have on the bow.

    I hope to get a limit of these this coming week sometime. The Crappie did come from open water from some brush piles.

    i never caught or even ate Jack fish, are they pretty good.

    Jack (Sauger) in my opinion are better than Crappie just because the size, but for taste, I'd say they are the same, very hard pick between the two.
