    Default Lessen Learned

I've only been fishing jig and bobber a couple years but wanted to share a lessens.

I've recently been using the z-man micro finesse shroomz jigheads that come in 1/10, 1/15, 1/20 and 1/30 oz sizes. Nothing special with the jigheads except they're made to work with the z-man Baby BallerZ bodies that are extremely tough yet flexible allowing them to twitch and move with the slightest movements.

The 1/30 has a tiny size 6 hook but allows the jig to float down very slowly below the bobber often resulting in aggressive hits from Crappie, gills, Bass and catfish. I've switched around jig weights while fishing in the same area and sometimes the Crappie are just aggressively feeding and it doesn't matter, but when they're finicky that slow, subtle fall of the jig is the difference between catching fish and not.

Additionally, I haven't noticed any problems with hookup on the fish using this tiny hook including two bass in the last couple weeks that were in the 4 pound range. I'm using a light action rod and 6 pound test line so I'm not putting much pressure on the fish to cause it to pull or tear loose.

    Anyway, thought I'd share.

    DB

Good looking out. Is the 1/30 lighter than 1/32?

Yes, but you can't tell, LOL!

The z-man Baby BallerZ bodies won't stay on a regular jig head. The z-man micro finesse shroomz jigheads have a little wire that sticks up that allows the body to stay on. I usually fish the same body all day even with numerous gills.

I have always preferred a 1/32 with a #6 hook. Don’t know reasons why like you do but I’ve always seemed to catch more fish with the smaller hook. Maybe it’s all in my head but just don’t seem to get as many bites on the same head with a bigger hook. Thanks for the info.

Actually the 1/32 should be lighter than the 1/30. But like Ditch said, it wouldn't ever be noticed...

Agreed my go to is 1/48 ounce size 8 hook even gone as low as 1/64 ounce jig heads the slow fall is dynamite under docks and pontoons and my hookups have not suffered from small hooks at all.
