Just curious what norm is now days. I do the ice because it makes more since to me but the live well is there and makes a good storage area.

Mine goes in the live well. My walleye boat has an extra large livewell so the fish do good in it. They are alive and well when I get back home.

Might be easy this time of year with cooler water for the livewell fish . My lake (Jordan, Coosa river, Elmore Co.)) has them down to 40' or 50' in the winter and summer and they turn up as soon as they surface. I've got folks on speed dail for those trips to get the fish when my freezer is full.
During the summer they go on ice. When water temps are cooler the live well is fine
