    Default Limestone 03-02

Fished the bay and the creek a little and caught and released 10 crappie and 7-8 bass. Only bass in the creek but found a few crappie in middle of bay. Didn’t start till noonish and saw a bunch of spider riggers getting a few and all said early bite was better. Water was so low I couldn’t get my 16/48 any further up the creek than the entrance to the first pit. All crappie came on a Bobby garland bluegrass minnow about 30 inches under a cork.

Nice! Thank you for sharing. We ended up trying Guntersville and almost struck out but caught a couple small crappie.

South Sauty bridge is loaded with baitfish and we saw some people catching crappie here and there.

One bank fisherman under the bridge had a nice mess. We had a boat with live scope but that guy was very impressive. Using jigs, no fancy equipment, just catching crappie in solid numbers from the bank when few were catching fish in boats (and I wasn’t even feeling / getting bites!) . I stopped to watch him for a little while . He could sense the smallest hits and knew right when to set the hook. He also counted down almost without thinking kept it a the right depth reeling so slowly. Made me feel like I have a very long way to go but was awesome to watch.

Didn’t catch much but still had a blast and felt like I learned something!

I've never been schooled catching Crappie worse than on old guy sculling an old flat bottom along the bank using a cane pole. Some folks just have catching Crappie fishing down to an art form. I get my share and more than most, but I've also been schooled where I just have to bow and watch a master.
