Good job getting out and catching some. Sounds like tough conditions but you got it done.
I gave the Flint River a try today putting in at the Turkey Springs Ramp off Cloud Cove Rd. I fished from the Ramp to the Tennessee River and back, but it was a tough day. Water is still rolling from the rain Christmas day and muddy with visibility of only about 6 to 8 inches and 52 degrees. I still scratched out 11 to keep and returned 6 larger fish. No pattern, the few that I got came off larger logs the fish were using as a current break. I'll give it another try in a week or so after the water gets down and cleans up.

Was the same at cotaco yesterday. It rained more than I realized. I didn’t adjust to the conditions near as well as you. Lol

Lots of 8-to-12-foot water with laydowns, let the current drop and clear a little and this place is loaded with Crappie. Today there were no baitfish schools and fish (mostly stripe) were scattered everywhere from a couple feet deep to just off the bottom in 20-feet of water. All of us have seen this happen when a creek gets blown out by rain. The fact that got a few means there's lots of Crappie in this area!
Thanks for the report DB
With the water rolling so good I would have figured the place would have been stacked with cats
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
I caught two channel cats and lost two more (I think). Several bass also in some pockets out of the current.
Thanks for the report. Glad you were rewarded for your efforts

Forgot to mention, I'm still using the z-man baby ballerz jig bodies. The jig head (Z-Man Micro Finesse ShroomZ) only has a #4 hook, but I continue to get solid hook ups from little 4 inch Crappie up to the big boys without issue. I only have the Chartreuse heads in 1/30, 1/20, 1/15 & 1/10 but just ordered some of the Red heads. Bob D told me a few years ago that Red heads make all the difference sometimes. I've fallen in love with this setup, but as soon as it doesn't work, I'll probably tie on a Marabou jig again, LOL!
One of the differences for me is the numerous Gills I catch, including a handful every trip that's big enough to fillet. That pretty unusual on a soft plastic jig body in the winter and is a nice bonus.
