    Default 8 mile

Fished 8 mile creek yesterday from 10 till 7. Spent the day looking in 15-25 feet of water. Caught gills, small bass and for the second trip in a row hung something really big. I’m pretty sure it’s flat head. Last trip it broke me off pretty quick. Yesterday I fought it for nearly 30 minutes. Tried to wear it down and just get it where I could see it. It drug me 100 yards down stream then turned and went back nearly to where I hooked it. It made a run and the 6lb just couldn’t take it. Surprised it didn’t break my rod. Kept fishing and finally found crappie in 4-7 feet of water around an old limb. Caught fish almost non stop for an hour. Majority the usual 7-8 inch fish with 5 around 10. Was catching them on a pink slider with a chartreuse tail and chartreuse head. Hung up and broke off. Tried 3 different color heads and never caught another fish. Not big crappie but a fun day of catching some fish at least. Next trip I’m digging out one of my old catfish rods.

You may have snagged a big carp. I seem to hook several every year, especially spider rigging.

Great report, small is always better than skunked!

Could have been. I’ve been told there are some huge flat head in there. Seems like everything is big there except the crappie. There are big ones but a bunch of small ones.

Sounds like a fun day. Where do you put in there? I've never been there.

The only put in now is on county road 1422 where it runs into catoma. Just so you know,be ready to work hard, especially getting back up that bank with a yak.
