Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay/Creek
I fished Limestone Saturday, cold and windy without much to report. I kept 10 and returned another 10 or 15 short Crappie but very slow day. Fish were split between single pole on laydowns and jig and bobber both using a Chartreuse and pink tub on a 1/32 oz jig head. Lots of bass, gills and strip hitting. I feel like there's lots more fish in the upper end, just lockjaw with the cold water.
Got checked by the Game Wardens as I was loading up, nice to see them out. I like the smaller Crappie, but I always stay legal on length and limits. I've seen too often people putting everything they catch into a bucket regardless of species, length or number.
Picture later, probably freeze just trying to clean fish, LOL.

Way to make it happen in all the wind and cold. I have never seen the game warden up in limestone creek. Was he in boat or on the bank? Wish they would make more visits up there. Hopefully the fishing will improve with the warm weather coming in later this week. Defiantly will try the bass next time i go.

I see them every year mostly in spring always on bank at gravel bar or arrowhead ramp

I launched my kayak off the peninsula between Limestone and Beaverdam Creek. The Wheeler Games were driving through with a ride along student that wanted to become a Game Warden after graduating. Friendly and professional encounter just wished there were more of them on patrol.

I got checked back last summer. Really friendly guy. I was just putting in and he checked my license. He told me they were really going to start focusing on people keeping short fish and over limits.
