Thread: Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay/Creek

I fished the upper end of Limestone the last two afternoons after work. I didn't expect much, more checking conditions. I caught a handful of Crappie each afternoon, all large Black Crappie that were returned. They are probably year-round residents. The water was 67 to 71 degrees between the creek or in the pits. Not sure why, but in the current the water is cloudy with clearer water in the pits. Wheeler is down about 18 inches. There are huge schools of baitfish everywhere with Bass and Catfish actively feeding on them, but Crappie are few and far between. I'm guessing we're still a couple weeks from the big move of Crappie out of Limestone Bay into the pits. I caught numerous Bass and Catfish on a jig and bobber.

I saw one of the smaller female Gators in the first pit to the left as you come out of the bay. Never saw the big male yesterday or today. That may have been the problem, I didn't have my lucky fishing buddy!
