I fished stick marsh off sandy rd Thursday. Caught several bass but no crappie or blue gill. I think i found part of the problem in the form of Otters. There were 5 or 6 at the spring and they were chowing down on some fish.I fished it later in the day and never got a hit on anything. As usual the tall grass was almost impenetrable at the put in. The bass were eating the frog good. Biggest was about 4 1/2 lbs. Going to try limestone again in the next couple of weeks. Very nice day on the water. PS: had a little green friend that stayed with me all day. I think he knew better than to jump in the water with all the bass.

Cool on the otters, most people are scared for them eating all the fish (that might happen in a small pool), but I think the fish quickly learn to avoid them for the most part. I find them often in the same areas I fish and never seem to have a problem filing a cooler.
the otter pics are cool!!! Thanks.
Fun times for sure! Nice fish

The little hitch hiker is cool !
What area are you referring to as the spring where the otters were? I know of the spring at the put in, and the spring near the point on the north side. I went today and saw otters in the SW corner and on the north bank between the put-in and point.
The spring is on the point on the north east part of the lake. It is Where the fish and same station meets the water at the grass bed. It has been grass covered the last few times that I have fished it. Several years ago it was completely open and full of big bluegill and bass. Did you do any good? Hope to hit it before it gets hard to get through the grass at the put in.
Okay, thanks. The grass at the put-in is thicker than I remember ever seeing it for this time of year. I caught a couple on frogs. I’ve struggled there the last few years. 10-12 years ago we would catch 20+ and always at least one over 4. I feel like the bottom has changed or something.
To expound on what I meant by the bottom changing, this picture helps. It was taken June 2013. I'm not sure how long you've been fishing there but the water was deeper then, yet somehow the stumps extended further out of the water. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense. It's like the bottom has been naturally filled in with silt or something.
Your spot on, the stick marsh is in the process of filling in from all the vegetation. This of it like all the leaves in the forest, each year another layer that becomes mud and silt. There's no current or a creek to occasional flood and wash it out. Same thing is happening to the main Swan Creek area, but slower since there's not moss and floating vegetation from end to end.
