I have to shake my head when you catch quality fish in the summer in shallow water. Awesome report. Thanks for sharing.

I fished the drainage canal behind Rockhouse today from 7:30 till around lunch time. Caught and released about 20 Crappie. Half larger White Crappie, half smaller (short) Black Crappie. Deepest water was only about 24 inches with most 12 to 18 inches. Crappie came single pole where the water was a little deeper and there was cover. Not a great day, but anytime there's a tug on the line is fun. Best bait was a Chartreuse Bobby Garland on a 1/32 oz jig head. Water was 75 degrees and muddy with visibility of only inches. All fish released.

catchNgrease, I was behind the pumps. The Crappie come in during the spring when the river is in flood. Later they pump the water out so they can plant the fields and the Crappie can't get out. I'm sure the Crappie would like to leave, but there's plenty of bait fish so they do fine over the summer.
Nice catch Ditch!
