you can likely find a few around the small bridge on the causeway before you get to the harbor. if current gets bad there they usually stack on the inside of the end pilings on the Huntsville end......lots of stripe too if you like that action

I fished the Decatur boat harbor back up to the bridge on the South side of the river some. Always get a few, but seldom more than half a limit. My go to place when there's a stiff wind from the South in the winter fishing from my kayak.

The Decatur bridge is too tall to provide enough shade to change things. I have a friend who many years ago was training to dive the Andrea Doria. He needed to learn how to use a heavy belt in heavy current so he would dive down at the bridge and walk around. He said as strong as the current was up top it was amazing how rough it was at the bottom.

If you can get to the mouth of Flint creek there is some flats right as you go into Flint that sometimes hold crappie and the mouth will have crappie when the water is hot like it is now.

I am not sure where you are talking about the area I am talking about we call the mussel camp which is just inside Flint creek(you can see the Hwy 31 bridge from there)and upstream past Point Mallard water park I usually use local names for the area I am fishing like we call one ate a the Suzy Hole but on most maps it is called Grantlands slough
