Default Kayak report for swan creek

Me and a buddy fished stick marsh off sandy rd Thursday. The bass bite was good with a 5 lb big fish. About 15 fish total. We caught a few smaller blue gill but could not get on them. The grass at the put in is almost impenetrable out to the main body of water.
After taking out around 11:00 we went over to the main swan creek area by the equipment shed. We managed 4 or 5 bass and a few small blue gill. We could not get the blue gill to cooperate and called it a day. Very good day to be on the water

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you’ve got the bass figured out.

How deep is the water in there?

Most of the water is 2 ft or less. The spring area is 3-4 ft and the area back by the railroad tracks in the north west corner is 3 ft or so. There are 2-3 springs that feed it with a spill way in the SE corner that goes under the tracks and feeds into the main swan creek by the equipment shed. The hardest part is the very thick grass that covers the put in out to the main body of water. You could probably take some worms or crickets and fish the open spots and catch a lot of blue gill. I use to catch a lot on the fly rod but it is almost too thick now.
