Default Aldridge Creek - southern walleye

Fished Aldridge Creek @ Ditto on Sat morning and Sunday mid day and caught a few. Water is down pretty low in the back. I fished the channel for the most part.

Caught a few sauger / southern walleye on a crank bait.

Is it a certain time of year for these creepy looking guys? I don’t have much experience with them.

Threw them all back as I didn’t have time to come home and clean them.

Caught some dinks on a chartreuse marabou.

Highlight of the day was watching a Kingfisher bird catching his morning breakfast and then going up on a limb to eat. He was a much better fisherman than me. Not sure if his pics will come out well enough to see but it was fun watching him.

You might be glad you didnt keep the Sauger in the picture as i dont think it was 15 inches.. they have to be 15" to go home to the skillet. Good to see some actually being caught that small .

Thanks Snapper. I am glad you told me. Next time I’ll know. Other ones I caught were bigger. I also forgot my net and ruler. These things have some sharp teeth!

    Thank you!

Not only teeth, but the gill plate is like a razor blade. Best eating fish around here, but they must be 15 inches.

Winter time is best for catching them.

And it's amazing at how many that I've measured that were 14 7/8" long. A bunch.

Wait till they make it 16 inches and all you'll catch is 15 1/2......

Sauger are some good eating. They are highly sought after here in the Buckeye!
