My favorite rod I’ve ever had was a field and stream inferno light/medium and the don’t make them anymore. I bought a cheap Shakespeare rod to fish for gills and a catfish broke the tip off it. Lol. I’ll find me something. Got a pflueger rod that my president came on. But it’s not sensitive at all.

They're dark due to living in shallow water, no sign of bedding. Only a handful were female and they didn't look close. This area is a huge shallow flat. The fish had move to narrow areas along the edges where there was some shade from the trees on the bank. I moved along the edge casting into the shade, mostly in 12 to 18" of water. The fish seemed to be feeding heavily in the afternoon as the water warmed. I also caught numerous stripe, bass and catfish.

Lots of interest in my Gills, first full moon is end of this week. A couple warm days after a cold Thursday morning and they should start looking for bedding areas.

Returned to Barrow Fork for a couple hours after work today, kept a dozen large gills and returned more than I could count. Fun short trip!
