Only thing I've found that will keep them alive is to change the water every 3 or 4 days. I use rain water and a Engel cooler.
I thought this stuff was suppose to keep them not kill them. Had them in me air conditioned shed since last week with a bubbler in them. Got this shad keeper stuff in the mail today. Put in a table spoon put them in the back of the truck. Work called so my trip was cancelled. Went to put them back in the shed a hour later and more than half were belly up. So y’all think it was the shad keeper or the heat of the day ( temp change)....I bought the shad keeper because I cast net during the summer and bring home hundreds of threadfin to stock my pond with bait

I use bait saver products sometime but agree with tlefire...changing water is the best thing that I have found to keep them alive for more than a day or two.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!
If you can find tuffy minnows they are much easier to keep alive
Those are tuff to keep alive with out the right system. Temp is the killer and scales . Best I did was with styrofoam and putting them in the refrigerator in the garage. Maybe two days.
The truth is hard to accept, so is life .
I had them in a air conditioned shed for 7 days with a bubbler. They were alive and frisky. Added a spoonful of shad keeper and put them in the truck. Hour later they were ALL DEAD
I’d say it was the heat ?
