Default Water Levels Near Garth Slough, Susie Hole, Etc

Just curious for those of you who are familiar with these places and other near like Lily Pond, are the water levels up right now or will that be later in the Spring?

I would say there’s enough water in there to get a boat in right now.

Thanks. I'm wanting to take my kayak down there sometime in the near future but didn't want to haul everything down there to find it empty. I've only ever been down there in the late Spring or Summer time so I was not certain.

If you look at the app and its 552ish and higher you are fine to get in there with a boat. Now that's not running thru there the whole time. Its pretty much idling from flint to the creek channel west of the bridge right up against the south bank, then hoping it up, running under the bridge and about 200 yards past the bridge and shutting back down and idling again. A kayak will be fine just about anytime. Suzie hole has a sandbar in the mouth of it that's tricky sometimes, but you would be fine in a Kayak. once you get in the suzie hole, there is some places with deeper water. Been a few years since ive been in there though.

With a kayak you can pretty muck still fish those areas anytime. IF the fish are in there they will stay not matter how low the water gets.

    That’s what I love about a kayak.

Thanks folks. I think I’m gonna head over and give it a shot tomorrow. I feel like I’d benefit from more time spent in calm shallow water while I’m still getting used to this kayak.

Drop these coordinates in your map app and it’ll show you:

    (34.5493170, -86.8098111)

Generally speaking it’s close to Mussell Camp Rd at Cave Springs.

Thanks. I think that’s where I’ve read about Ditch Basser catching Chanel cats on jugs. I want to give that a try sometime.
