Looking for tips on where to start. I dont have a clue where to begin looking for them this time of the year. Thanks for any pointers yall can give.

What lake do you fish? What kind of equipment do you have, side image? Docks are good on most lakes in fall deep brush to. If you're close by maybe you can meet up for a on the water lesson

I’m right there with you. I mostly only fish in the spring and after that it’s time to hunt but I just started really wanting to learn this and there is definitely an art or skill to it that I lack.

Best information I can give you is google "crappie by degrees" don't just read it. Understand it and how this information is related to the places you fish. Make sure you relate the numbers correctly. Meaning your water temps should be falling.

First off you really need good electronics to find the brush. They usually aren't in 4fow in the fall. If you don't have electronics look for docks and laytdowns in deeper water. If you on the water in the late evening look for shad at the top of the water, that's going to clue you in to where the fish are. If the shad are in the back of the creek that's where the fish will be. If shad are in the mouth of the creek well fish docks and trees in the mouth. Also they will bite faster that spring, they aren't going to hold on to it as long ( you got to be fast with your hook sitting) it's really not much different that pre spawn crappie in spring. Some people even catch them long lining in the fall but that's not my strength.
If y'all have any other questions let me know or pm me and will talk over the phone. If you willing to travel I will teach you on the water but it will have to be soon because I start hunting soon

I love fall and winter fishing- right now find the shad schools and fish in them. As the water temps come down, crappie will come to shallow water. I use a cork and jigs for that.
