Ultrex hands down, with ulterra you have no sense of direction without looking at motor

I’ve been looking at these lately for my dad’s SeaArk as well! Which would you recommend for people who don’t use the foot controller? We have always kept a hand-controlled/tiller motor on our boat, and the biggest differences I seem to read about between the Ultrex and Ulterra is that the Ultrex uses cable drive for turning and doesn’t auto deploy/store while the Ulterra uses an electronic drive (no feedback in the peddle) and has the auto deploy/stow. Does that sound right to y’all?
I chose the 80# Ultrex mainly because I intended to network all three of my Helix units and a 360 mega imaging unit; which along with the Lakemaster plus mapping card unlocks other cool features like go to waypoint, contour tracking and many other valuable trolling features that I am still learning how to use. All of this comes with a good bit of learning curve... but between Youtube tutorials, the manuals and experimenting with all of the adjustments... I'm learning a little something every time I get on the water.
I can say without any hesitation I am 100% satisfied with choosing Ultrex so far. I would admit however, if you aren't interested in total boat networking or any of these features... I'm sure the Ulterra would fill the bill for the most part and with a considerable savings in $$$$$.

I really like my Ulterra, easy deploy, easy stow. With bad knees it's a big plus

Thanks for the response!! That may have been the case with earlier models, but for brand new Minn Kotas, both the Ultrex and the Ulterra offer iPilot link (total boat networked with Humminbird units) and the Mega DI transducer in the foot. They are almost the same price, too.....I’m trying to decide on the 45” shaft 80lb thrust Ulterra (MSRP $2,799) or the 45” shaft 80 lb thrust Ulterra (MSRP $2,899) with all of the above features. Only difference they list on the website is the deploy mechanism and the foot controller technology.
I have the Ultrex. The only complaint that I have is the Spot Lock doesn't keep your location "still" without a lot of up and down RPM's of the motor trying to hold you still. Must use the Minn Kota Talons to stay securely in one spot. Also, I haven't noticed any cables for turning on mine?
Ultrex because it's the best of both worlds! However I did fish with a guy that had the garmin force and the response time on it is amazing!
