    Default Homeless Fish Fry?

Has anyone on here ever participated or heard of a fish fry for the homeless at one of the tent camps? We have many camps here in Huntsville. I just wonder if it would be an effective way to reach out and love on a neighbor. I welcome all input about this idea.

I think it’s a good idea. If you decide to do it I would be willing to help if work would allow. Sorry but I wouldn’t be much help with getting fish. Lol

Very sad. Maybe you could coordinate with one of the local benevolence groups:

Well, let’s pray about it and see where God leads us. I just joined a small group at church that ministers to the local homeless folks. I’ll run it by them first to see where it goes. If that doesn’t take off, we may reach out to Slabprowlers contacts and try that route. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll go down myself and try to coordinate with the camps that I know about. Some things to think about would be a location that would reach the most at one time I’m thinking. This is all a very new idea for me, so bare with me as we try to move forward. I would appreciate your prayers for wisdom on the best way to pull this off. I know we could do this in our own strength, but I want to be dependent on God for this to work so that it glorifies Him, not us.

Again, if anyone has any input or would like to be involved some way, speak up. Thanks!

I can totally relate to that. I haven’t been fishing for quite awhile and the last few times I did go, I didn’t put many in the boat. LOL

There is an organization in the Huntsville/Athens area called Hearts for Homeless. I am not very familiar with them but a year or so ago I saw a lot they were doing on Facebook. You might get in touch with with them. I’m not following the person anymore but the page is still there.

Never done a fish fry but my church feeds the homeless and the jail regularly. I have been involved in most of them but I'm a good way from you. I would ask local churches if I was you.

Default Catch and Kill Crappie, Bass, Cat fish Tournaments - Feeding the homeless.

A few Christian thoughts for our consideration: Country fresh fish for the homeless people.
I cannot think of any better reason to reinstate and participate in “Catch and Kill” fishing tournaments and supplying fresh caught fish FREE to a greater cause, local hunger and malnutrition. It make little difference in the species of fish provide the fish is fresh, plentiful, healthy and FREE. I would hope PETA and even the hardest of the hard core conservation minded activist would endorse and possibly support something like this.
Invite the homeless to partake of the post tournament fish fry or just deliver the fresh fish to the homeless camp sites after the tournaments. That would mean fresh fish meals, protein for the homeless nearly every week-end from June through mid-September.
Surely someof the local churches may be interested in helping feed the homeless? Maybe? It would surely be worth a try.
    Any thoughts?
