    Default Camping and fishing question

Has anyone fished a lake or river and just found a good place to pull up to and camped then fished the next day before returning to the launch area? Can you even do that anymore? Used to when I was much younger but times have changed. I’m not sure of any laws or regulations concerning such. Would like to hear from anyone doing it or knowing about it.

I kinda do it all the time, I say kinda because when I leave my house that was my intention to camp and fish and not just a decision made on the water. I’m not sure about other lakes but AP has designated islands for camping on Wedowee. On the Tallapoosa Rivers north of wedowee there is plenty of sandbars to camp for the night. A river trip is usually from fri evening till midday Sunday and we have never seen a shortage of campsites unless the river is up usually we don’t even try if that’s the case.

Thanks, I live about 2 1/2 hours from wedowee but may have to plan a trip there. I live closer to the Tenn river. There is just something about fishing and primitive style camping that I love though I haven’t done it in years.

I have done it on Spring Creek on Wheeler lake but it's been a while back and would love to do it again.I have had some real good times just finding a out of the way place and sitting there with a rod in the water and looking at the stars and enjoying nature

According to the TVA website you are allowed to camp up to 14 consecutive days in one spot before moving to another ! And you are allowed to camp on any undeveloped TVA land ! Unless otherwise posted!

sometimes when i use to jug-fish alot and there were no sand-bars or anyplace to camp , i would just tie up to a limb that stuck out over the water and sleep on a foam mat..........you can rely hear some scary sounds at night on the river !!!!

Can only imagine! Though the worst probably was what you didn't hear....that moccasin crawling down that limb before going right by you and into the river.

i always used enough rope to let the boat be a little ways out from under the limb i tied off to....but the thought sure did cross my mind !!..never had a snake get in the boat so far , but i have had them fall off of limbs close to the boat when i would go up in a tangle to get a jug out....about the worse thing was hearing a really loud splash pretty close to the boat , alligator ?? , that 14 footer that was caught a few years ago was caught right up the river from me...

Thanks for all input, in particular the TVA information. I may never do it again but then again I may do it soon. Camping, fishing and cooking on the river bank is the best of times in my opinion
