Still waiting for the final word, but it's looking a lot more like that is where we are headed... My buddy from Foley is also moving there, no later than the end of the year. So, we will be fishing together a lot more... It's all good!

There is also some good striper fishing below Smith Lake on the Warrior River as well as up in east Tennessee. In general the Wheeler area is a great central hub to tons of excellent fishing. Numerous options withing an hour and a half drive and numerous options likely 10 minutes down the road.
I live just off of Wheeler lake near Cotaco creek and can be on the south end of Guntersville (Browns creek)in about 35 minutes at wheeler dam in 1hour and at Smith lake in 1 hour and 15 minutes, its like Scout said Wheeler is a excellent area that is central to some of the best fishing in the state in my opinion

Fingers are still crossed, as the anxiety builds... Not knowing where you are headed is hell on earth!

Well, if the good Lord is willing, we will know something early this coming week, but it looks more like Birmingham area for a year or so... I'm seeing this as a two step process now. Move closer, then end up where I really want to be...

From Birmingham your still a chip shot from smith for stripers and a lot closer to the warrior river. Everything will work ot in the end.
And you're only a little over a hour away from the Tennesse river lakes and closer to the Coosa river
