I use buttermilk and egg for the drink and cornmeal with some spices, salt, pepper, or whatever you like, for the dredge. But I'm pretty simple with mine.

Look under the cooking section for some more ideas.

I personally like the Midwest crab cakes receipt found there.

We really like the McCormicks Beer Batter mix, just add beer!

My family is a big fan of Panko, but that's a breading and not a batter.

I like my battery lite. Put some "slap ya mamma" in some cornmeal and shake the fish around.

Walkers, the people who make slap ya momma, make a fish batter. It is outstanding. I'm with catchNgrease, like my fish lightly battered. Louisiana is also good batter

I like to mix it up and use different kinds but zatarans southern crispy or lemon pepper is good. Louisiana mixed with corn bread mix 50 50 is a good choice. If you ever around top of the river you can buy there mix if you call ahead. It's probably my favorite.

Drakes fish batter is my favorite. May have to buy it online Because I have not found it in my are since I moved south Add some panko a small amount of crushed red pepper and a little salt and wammo. The panko makes it nice and crispy
