    Default Neely ... Pelicans?


    Been a couple years since I been on Neely Henry / canoe creek. When did the pelicans show up and why they here? Do they leave?

    They showed up around a month/ month and a half ago. Been a few years since I seen them here, the hurricane brought them in last time, don’t know if they came from Gunnersville or the gulf this time. On leaving, I hope so, I live on 77 alone the causeway and a couple weeks ago they were on the impounded side and they must have been 200-300 strong.

    This week is the first time I have seen them there. Hope they leave soon and take about a million other birds with them.

    They didn't come from Guntersville. I saw 4 this week up here. First ones I've seen this year. Roger I'm with you. I'll be glad when the 14 brazillion seagulls head home.

    Saw 50-60 on Guntersville Saturday along with about 3 bajillion seagulls...

    They have been at Guntersville for a few years now, but I have seen less than half of them this year.

    They've been on Weiss for years in large numbers. Beautiful birds. I've been told they migrate south from the Great Lakes and the northeastern sea board states.
