Good morning, guys. I was sitting here thinking about my trip yesterday on Guntersville. Went to 3 places and didn't have the first bite. So, how do yall fish in this mud?

Down here in the delta we fish muddy water a lot in the spring. It’s a challenge. I try to use dark colored baits , black chartreuse, blue chartreuse, crawfish color. Also baits with action like paddle tails and curly tails.

On a place like Guntersville, where the water is normally clear you want have much luck fishing in the mud. There should be some areas such as feeder creeks, backwater areas, or old oxbows that clear up first. That's the areas I target during high muddy events on the river I fish.

On the big G , Browns creek isn't muddy and almost never gets muddy from the bridge down to the power lines as you go out toward the river side it will start turning dingy to muddy the close t=you get tot he main river channel .

These river swamp fish are at home in the mud. I probably could not catch them in clear water how to fish in mud

That's why I have better luck using bigger baits.

One good thing about the muddy water is you can find springs pretty easy. I found one Saturday that I had no idea was there. Found a patch of blue water in the mud. I also found some clear areas where the water was shielded from the flow of the creek. I didn't get a bite either though.

I use pink heads with white curly tails and fish where I normally do when its clear....they seem to bite the same....also fish deeper sometimes when water is brown.
