Default Kayak Trip Report, Madison County Lake

I gave Madison County Lake a try Saturday, but the Crappie weren't on the brush piles. Tough day with only three Crappie in the boat. Kept a few gills for dinner so not a total loss. The lake picked up a half foot is so of water in the last two weeks, but is still about three feet low. Water was 50 degrees at daylight and 56 by late afternoon. Visibility is about 18 inches.

That place is so much fun on a good day. During the winter the crappie can always be found on the creek channel right down the middle of the lake.

Bob D, your dead on. I expected the Crappie to be on the brush. I didn't bring my rods for spider rigging and the Crappie were scattered and suspended down about 10 to 15 feet in the deeper water.
