A few weeks ago White Bass were tearing it up late in the evenings. I'm not trying to talk you out of crappie fishing but I just try to catch whatever is biting. The white bass were pushing up schools of shad and running them to the river bank between the Flint and Paint Rock.

So Cataco creek is great and with your john boat I'd go to sharps ford launch so you don't have to run across the river to get to it. Arrowhead is always good as you know, the I-65 bridge is doable from there as well as the mouth of Flint creek. You can also go up the Flint on Hwy 31 and there is a launch up there you can get right on the creek up above. The Hwy 31 bridge before Decatur can be good and you can launch from the marina right there. Indian creek is about the same.

Thanks for all the good info. Spent the weekend actually looking for a bigger boat, so didn’t get to try these places out. But, these sound like some good places to try out. I’ll be trying to hit these soon and I’ll post results... if there are any. LOL

So, is anybody catching anything at these places recently? Last fish I caught were stripers below Wheeler dam last weekend. But that’s too far to drive during the week.

Plenty of those stripe/white bass below the Guntersville dam also!
    Too blessed to be stressed!

I'd give Limestone Bay/Arrowhead Landing a try. The area holds good numbers of Crappie year round. Either single pole on laydowns in the creek or spider rigging the stump fields in open water through out the flats.

Another weekend looking at boats, so no fishing. Hopefully I’ll get out to some of these spots soon and I’ll let you know how it went. I appreciate all the input.

Upgraded to a different boat. Bigger motor will get me more places. Probably won’t help my fishing though... LOL. Now it’s time to get out and try some of these spots out. Is anybody catching crappie in any of these places in the Huntsville area these days?

Just so you know, I think it's in the bylaws of crappie.com that if you buy a boat, you have to post a picture of it.

I've caught more fish by going smaller (kayak) and slowing down.

I use to run a big boat, if I didn't catch something in 15 minutes I raced off to a new spot. Most people will target the same visibly laydowns on a creek. I catch more in between what seen above the water by slowing down and looking for subtle spots that other anglers miss.
