Let's hope they do more than Kentucky and Tennessee I don't want to see our river system look like theirs.
In the last two days I have talked with Representative Mack Butler three times about the Asian carp problem. During my lifetime he is the only legislator who has ever called me. He is on our side on this issue and is making an effort to rally the troops in Montgomery. He told me last night the after researching the issue he felt as we do that this is a serious threat to our fisheries on the Tenn. River system. He also said that he had been in contact with Governor Ivy about the situation. Many of our legislators will help if we contact them. It takes a little time but we need to try to be proactive on this issue. Please contact your legislator it is election time. Mack is running for the state senate seat in my district this term and because of his constituent services will receive my whole hearted support

Robbie you guys in your area need to be on the Phone with your legislators. This is going to take input and effort from a lot of different people. We must must show our representatives why this is a problem for all citizens of Alabama. Lost revenues, damages to Eco systems and loss of tourism are a few of the negative effects of this species. So we can't just sit back and hope they do something. We must insist they do something by contacting them. Contrary to the opinion of the ones in Washington, they work for us. Call your reps. You will get a good response.

I talked to Scofield. He's didn't sound as worked up about it as I thought he would, but at least now he knows about it. I'm going to call Ainsworth next week.
Scuse me, the Alabama conservation dept. Is all fired up on chronic wasting disease on the west side of miss. Social media posts, seminars,,, etc. Where are they when the Asian carp thing is here already? Like what. A fellow gardener told me he wished the last deer in our state was in a zoo in Montgomery dying,,,lol
This is a massive problem...! I am not sure what can be done at this point? I know up here we have all been very concerned about them getting into the great lakes. Check out video on the IL river or Ky lake. They will destroy a fishery as they eat their weight in bio mass everyday!
Google asian carp and you will get a lot of infro. Also google Tennessee asian crap good read there. No dough this is huge problem, but if we have learned anything it is not to bring any plant or animal into this country that is not native. I agree we need to push people at state and federal levels but from what i have read this is a massive problem that will be with us for a while. I fish wheeler lake and reports are that some are here. This is not just a fishing problem but will change our hold river system. Report if we see any and contact our reps. Alabama outdoors has a good read.
