    Default Fishing the grass

Fished Big G last two Saturdays. Caught a lot of fish Kept 36 one sat and 38 this past sat. We caught some good fish. Fish were scattered in grass in 3 to 5 fow. Probably some shallower than that but grass to thick to get to them. Pulled 1/32 roadrunners with blue and chart. and Weiss lake killer southern pro grubs. Caught males and females in post spawn pattern. Females had laid out. Fished two different areas this past sat and the fish were on the same pattern in both locations. Slabprowler was going as I was leaving and he caught several in a short wind blown afternoon trip. Don't be afraid to get in the grass. You have to pull one lite jig and pull fast, 1.o to 1.4. A lot of times jig will hit grass and when it bounces off you will get bit. It is some what aggrevating because you need to check your baits frequently to remove grass but rewards are well worth the effort. Dang, I love that place

Looks like you're having the same fun I had coach. Glad to see you've been on them. I found them just a little deeper in 6-8.5 fishing just above the submerged grass.

I still think I need to invent a hay rake sorta thing to go on the front of a boat to rake that floating grass outta the way. Sure would make the fishing easier. I'm glad I fished the grass though. They'z bigguns down there hiding....

It does not even have to be a rake, just angled guide to guide it away from poles. My problem is with 18' poles out each side it will take some kind of contraption...
