    Default limestone bay 03-10

fished limestone bay on the north end and finally found crappie on fire after about 3 hours of nothing....the gravel pits were full of them but the bite just died after about 30 mins.....I passed by a pit on my way to favored ground and saw lots of surface activity when I first arrived but passed it up till later...wish I had started in there. ended up catching 18 on a white maribou jig fished 2 ft under a cork. All fish released .

River Boss, I have heard about the gravel pits in Limestone Bay, but I never have found out exactly where they are. Perhaps you can clue me in, I like to fish from a kayak or from my bass boat. Are they part of the main bay area or up one of the creeks? Thanks, you can PM me if you want. Thanks!

there are lots of gravel pits on the north end of the bay . some connect to limestone creek or its branches....I fished from a small john boat that can be a struggle in really low water. some of the pits can be fished from the bank and even the ones cut off from the creek have crappie in them.....google maps can pretty much show the way to access them. watch for gators, they love to nest in those pits and sloughs......no bass boats until full pool unless you want to risk damage to your boat...getting in is a stump covered nightmare if you get into the pits in any kind of boat you should avoid using the trolling motor as it will spook the fish. silence is golden as Ive learned from Ditch Basser.....
