That was my worry that it was still pretty low. I agree I wish they’d raise it by atleast a couple feet.

I sure wished I could understand how they measure the lake level ! According to their site the lake is only 1.63 below full pool but you can look at the shore line and see the water marks on the bank 2-3’ up from the water and in the shallow areas you can see stumps that’s usually under the water but they are sticking up over 2’ ? Also last year in March with all the rain. it showed the lake level like .22 above full pool and the water was up in the parking lots of a lot of ramps? Somebody measuring with a crookered stick !
I think it's based on sea level not the bank. What I'm trying to say the banks aren't vertical so it looks more or less than it is. And I may be totally wrong or stupid
The reason the lake is so low and at the dam aint generating but 18000 to 24000 most days is NO WATER we are in a moderate drought right now according to the weather channel ,way below normal for our rain . And nothings happening in the whole water shed up stream to get any. Guntersville is controlled by Nickajack as to how it runs its out put. Also TVA always lowers the water in Winter trying to kill the milfoil and weeds and that hurt them this year because they have not the inflow they usually get in winter. On the other hand the weed kill off will be the most in years due to the low water and the long week of sub freezing weather we had. All the rain seems to be going south or just drying up when it hits North Alabama .Case in point this weekend they were predicting 1 inch for most places , all I got was .2 in been like that all winter The big G is as low as I have seen it this time of year . Need rain and lots of it.

Snapperking, you are dead on. It's really dry for this time of year and I hope that it doesn't carry over into this summer. I have a farm with cattle and hay and also honeybees. Droughts are rough on all of those. We just had a horrible one year before last and I pray we don't have one this year.
Take a look at the latest USDA drought map: United States Drought Monitor > Current Map > State Drought Monitor
Smith Lake is 15 feet down. Never seen it this low in Jan. The only launch available for Cullman county is the dam. Missing some good fishing...
