Oh oh we landed some nice ones. I just wasn't setting the hook good. My regular rig sets different. Just a natural reflex when your in the zone

Some good ern for sure ! I’ve tried a bunch of rods and for me personally I have found the pro angler rods to be the perfect fit for me. But I just order a Berkley c series bcs722l light I think I’m going to like it too!

I'm with you brother. I like a little more back bone. I use light line and 500 series reels, but I prefer a 6ft medium-light inferno rod from field and stream. 2lb and 4lb line has a lot of stretch. I get more hook-ups with a stiffer rod. If you're confident with an ultra-light rod, keep using it. For me I like a little more rod. Also I use a 5ft media rod for shooting docks . It's not a fitness think it just works best for me

Can't set the hook too hard on them paper mouths, I use UL for this reason, and make sure I use a bigger and sharper hook.

I like the UL with a real fast tip. Takes awhile to find one you like. But, I like the extra flex when playing the fish, it's a little more forgiving and you loose fewer fish from pull outs. Another trick is to give a hooked fish a second hook set, maybe not quiet as rough as the first one to send the hook that little extra bit deeper.

I’ve caught a lot of fish in my lifetime but some of you have caught more crappie a day than I have in total. Regardless of fish species that I’m fishing for, I like the lightest rod that I feel I can get by with. Having said that I will not use an ultra light rod if it has no backbone. If I whip it back and forth and the blank moves a little all the way down to the handle, I won’t buu that rod unless I’m buying it for bream fishing.

My favorite crappie poles have a good backbone and a very very fast tip. They’ll load up pretty well down a little over 1/3 of the way back from the tip.
